 Each City & Town has regulations governing the use of buildings.  There may be districts where specific building uses are not allowed.  These regulations are used to maintain or change the character of neighborhoods.  The Zoning Codes are an ever changing set of rules.  What was allowed in the past may not be allowed now.  The Zoning Codes must be checked for all construction projects to verify what is allowed.  If a project exceeds the regulations then an appeal must be made to the local government.  A professional will be required to navigate this political process.
