With the cost of fuel, designing buildings
that provide the optimum amount of solar gain may be a requirement
in the future. Currently, the effect of new buildings
and additions may have an impact on adjacent buildings. Neighbors
may be concerned with the loss of light and effect of shade on
their property. Building owners may be concerned with the
heating and cooling of their building. Studying the effect
of these conditions may result in increased longevity and lower
maintenance costs. Existing buildings may be improved
with a better understanding of it’s surroundings.
