Many Cities & Towns have historic districts. These
districts are created to maintain older parts of Cities and Towns. Some
districts are under the jurisdiction of state or federal guidelines. Each
district may have their own unique regulations. The shape,
size, style, color, location and approval of many building components
may be regulated. Most districts may be governed by citizen
groups. All districts are regulated by written laws governing
the City or Town. These rules can not be ignored and in
many cases heavy fines can be levied for non compliance.
